  • Done: Procured and Installed Bimini
  • Procure and Install Dodger
  • Done: Replaced Morse Cables: Gear Shift (9') - Throttle (8') - Engine Shutoff (7')

  • Maximum space/dimension available for Bimini

Could install existing Gallows on Coachroof as shown here - can connect fore edge of an awning

NAVICO YP500 Autopilot installation - in constrained canoe stern space
Hydraulic ram type autopilot with NMEA connection to the GPS
  • Installed "upside down" to underside of deck
  • Reverse offset from tiller bolt - ram/pump assembly is installed forward instead of aft due to canoe stern (there is about 1/2 inch clearance from hull)
  • Used two part Edson tiller arm on the 1 3/4" diameter solid stainless rudder stock - two 3/8" - 16 hardened steel set screws are drilled and tapped in the aft piece and set into dimples in rudder stock - one 3/8" - 16 stainless bolt is tapped through the forward tiller arm piece and about 1/4" into the rudder stock (this bolt is in shear)
Tiller arm is installed just above the upper bearing of the rudder stock (limits rudder stock from dropping more than an inch if lower bearing ever fails)
If pedestal cable steering system ever fails, can steer with the independent autopilot/tiller arm system
Sea Trial - August 2006 - autopilot runs straight on course and accepts waypoint/route NMEA from Magellan GPS 168 Sounder - power to drive rudder is more than adequate
  • Plan to have a 3/8" key cut into the rudder stock (may rent a Climax type portable milling machine to cut a keyway into rudder stock in place)

  • TIG turnbuckle cotter pins
